Of the Grid, Dracula, Philly Asian Futures, and more
The BSR Weekly Arts and Culture Roundup, October 16-22, 2025

Coming up this week, new exhibitions are opening at the Museum of the American Revolution and Drexel University’s Pearlstein Gallery that you’ll want to check out. An exhibition at William Way LGBT Community Center that you’ll also want to see is closing this week, and we wanted to put it on your radar in case you missed it. Then, Dracula takes a bite into comedy at Curio, more poetic healing in Germantown, and Asian Arts Initiatives takes a look into the future.
You Are Welcome Here; I Saved a Chair for You
Through October 23, 2025
William Way LGBT Community Center, 1315 Spruce Street
This exhibit features the weavings and drawings by Germantown-based fiber artist Kathryn Pannepacker, who uses the recurring motif of chairs to imply spaces for gathering and creating community. It aims to cultivate a space of radical inclusivity, inviting people to build community and support through a variety of art workshops and community gatherings. The exhibition is closing next Thursday—check it out while it’s here!

October 15-December 15
URBN Annex, 3401 Filbert Street

Nearly 20 countries and the stories of their independence will be featured here, with over 120 artifacts for visitors to experience.

Echoes & Healing: A Community Poetry Experience
Sunday, October 19, 2-5pm
Ubuntu Fine Art, 5423 Germantown Avenue

Philly Asian Futures
October 22-26
Asian Arts Initiative, 1219 Vine Street, 3rd floor
Step into a magical kitchen, time-travel through Chinatown, sip tea in a ritual ceremony, and wander through a performance garden at Philly Asian Futures—part museum, part adventure, and all imagination. This new multi-disciplinary theatrical project serves as an experiment in collective imagination, bringing together elders from across Philadelphia’s Pan-Asian communities with a team of musicians, writers, dancers, and actors who reflected on lived experiences, expectations, and hopes for the community’s collective future. We’ll be running a preview next week, but we definitely wanted to put this on your radar ahead of time!
