Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieślowski’s 1989 take on the Ten Commandments, first produced as a miniseries, doesn’t get local showings often, but the film will be shown in its entirety throughout August and September, with two chances to watch each two-part segment.

Repo Men

The Keswick Theatre, 291 North Keswick Avenue, Glenside

This event is essentially a three-part show: It consists of a screening of the 1984 punk science-fiction dark comedy Repo Men, a Q&A with director Alex Cox, and a concert performance from the Circle Jerks, the band that both appeared in the film and contributed to the soundtrack. The event is co-presented by PhilaMOCA.

The Big Lebowski and Little Lebowski Nite

The Ambler Theater, 108 East Butler Avenue, Ambler

The theater’s annual celebration of the Coen brothers’ 1998 cult hit The Big Lebowski features two showings of the film, along with a costume contest, trivia, prizes, and special beers from Tannery Run Brew Works; the first 150 guests will receive a complimentary sarsaparilla.

Splatterfest XIV

The Colonial Theatre, 227 Bridge Street, Phoenixville

The Colonial presents its annual marathon of Italian horror cinema, featuring five films totaling over nine hours, described by the theater as “a night of blood, guts, madness, and, yes, some great cinema.” And it’s all in 35mm, starting at 7pm and continuing until the wee hours of 4am.

The lineup includes Dario Argento’s Tenebrae (1982), Riccardo Freda’s The Ghost (1963), Ferdinando Di Leo’s Slaughter Hotel (1971), Rino Di Silvestro’s Werewolf Woman (1976), and Bruno Mattei’s Hell of the Living Dead/Night of the Zombies (1980).
