The vast majority of our annual budget directly funds payments for our staff and writers, and a significant percentage of that budget comes from individual readers like you, who continue to ensure our financial and journalistic independence.
Our donors are an important part of the BSR community, and we foster an ongoing connection that honors your support of our work long after you hit the donate button.
We welcome one-time donations of any size (we’re so small that every bit matters), but the biggest way donors can help is a recurring monthly donation. This offers vital stability to our small team, and helps donors spread their gift out across the calendar year. We have two monthly donor programs: our Friends of BSR, whose gifts start at just $5/month (or one $60-gift per year), and our Local Media Champions, who give $19/month (in honor of BSR's 19th anniversary in 2024, the year we launched this program).
Monthly donors get free access to BSR events, invitations to staff-only meetups, early access to our editorials, and special giveaways and discounts throughout the year. But most importantly, they power local independent arts media in a moment when we need it most.
