Dolce Suono continues its exploration of Spanish and Latin American music with a program that includes tangos, a world premiere, and a trio by Vivian Fine, an American composer whose career spanned the decades between 1929 and 2000. The world premiere will be a new trio for flute, cello, and piano by Michael-Thomas Foumai, a rising young composer whose approach to music emphasizes drama, emotion, and narrative drive. The Vivian Fine piece will be "Canciones y Danzas," a trio for flute, guitar, and cello that draws its inspiration from Spanish poetry, the Spanish Civil War, and the dialogue with death that runs through Spanish culture. Dolce Suono’s livewire founder, flutist Mimi Stillman, will work with three Dolce Suono regulars: cellist Nathan Vickery, pianist Charles Abramovic, and guitarist Gideon Whitehead.

Dolce Suono Ensemble will present The Americas Project / Música en tus Manos on December 11 at 3pm at the Curtis Institute’s Field Concert Hall, 1726 Locust Street, Philadelphia. Tickets ($30 for general admission; $25 for seniors; $10 for students) are available online, by calling 267-252-1803, and at the door.
