The 1980s burst at the seams with late-night comedy talent culled from an explosion in the club circuit. Many, like Andrew Dice Clay and Carrot Top, now seem annoying, but the decade produced many comedians who carved out distinct, enduring and influential styles, such as Sam Kinison, Roseanne Barr and Denis Leary. Steven Wright, he of slow voice and ironic wit, falls into the latter category.
