As usual (even though they’re working to find their new home), Mt. Airy Art Garage (MAAG) is going all-out for Women’s History Month, with an exciting roster of women-centric arts, discussion, and music, open to all.

Things begin with the exhibition No Longer Anonymous, “a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women artists in Philadelphia while recognizing we have a long way to go,” according to MAAG. The show is dedicated to some of the region’s best fiber artists, including Sara Allen, Magdalena Elias, Kathy Robinson, and others. The show kicks off on Friday, March 4, with a free opening reception at 6pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public and runs through May 1.

And for International Women’s Day, the non-profit MAAG is hosting a special panel: “The Struggle Continues! Women Artists Fighting For Our Rights.” It will feature the voices of artists, educators, and cultural leaders and activists across the city. Germantown photographer Tieshka Smith will join Historic Germantown executive director Trapeta Mayson, alongside the Art Sanctuary’s Valeria Gay, and more. “Speakers will tell their stories and examine ways to overcome stereotypes, while inspiring empowerment,” MAAG says. It’s happening Sunday, March 6 at 3pm, and admission for the event is $10.

A night of music finishes the festivities, with “Women Who Love Women Who Make Music,” a concert hosted in partnership with the Philadelphia Folksong Society on Saturday, March 12 at 7pm. Anna Crusis Women’s Choir, No Good Sister, Ashley Phillips, and more are on the roster. Doors are at 6:30pm and admission is $15.

All MAAG Women’s History Month events are happening at the organization’s home space at 11 West Mt. Airy Avenue in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. The Solomon Levy Gallery is open Wednesday and Friday from noon to 7pm; Thursday and Saturday from noon to 6pm; and Sunday from noon to 5pm. For more information, visit online or call 215-242-5074.
