TUDOR CHRISTMAS

Piffaro’s Christmas concert has been one of my personal holiday traditions since they staged the first one 30 years ago. The color and vitality of Renaissance music played on real Renaissance noisemakers creates the sonic equivalent of Yule logs and hot cider. This year they’re holding the concert during the lull between Christmas and New Year’s, turning it into a true midwinter festival. In keeping with their theme this year, they’ll be focusing on the well-loved music of Tudor England and interweaving it with refined French carols and other pleasures created in the societies on the other side of the English Channel.
