Hodge envisions the Scottish play amidst the battlefields of WWI; the three witches speak through phonographs played backward and trundle across the set in trench warfare gas masks. Reed and Jennifer Summerfield (as Lady MacBeth) deliver chilling portrayals of murderous ambition, tinged with lust and despair.
