Dolce Suono celebrates its 10th anniversary with modern musical greats
The Dolce Suono Ensemble has added so many glowing moments to my musical memories it’s hard to believe it’s just starting its 10th season (and its live-wire founder, flutist Mimi Stillman, was only 23 when her creation presented its first concert). In celebration of that milestone, Dolce Suono is presenting a gala 14-musician concert that features popular guest stars like pianist Natalie Zhu and clarinetist Anthony McGill, along with equally popular regulars like pianist Charles Abramovic and violist Burchard Tang. Stillman and her colleagues will present music by a list of composers that ranges from Bach and Debussy to Jelly Roll Morton and the Argentine tango master Ástor Piazzolla — a roster that should produce a satisfactory sample of the pleasures and excitements Dolce Suono audiences have experienced during the last nine years.
The Dolce Suono Ensemble will present its 10th Anniversary Celebration Concert on Sunday, October 12 at 3pm in the Field Hall of the Concert Institute of Music, 18th and Locust, Philadelphia. General admission tickets are $25 ($20 for seniors and $10 for students) and they’re available online, by calling 267-252-1803, and at the door.
Since this story was originally published, Dolce Suono changed the location of this concert from Lenfest Hall at the Curtis Institute to Field Hall at the Concert Institute of Music.
