Tempesta di Mare is rejuvenating Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons by presenting each of Vivaldi’s four concertos in a program that includes related works by other composers. The second concert in the series contrasts Vivaldi’s Winter concerto with wintry musical images composed in 17th century London and 18th century Versailles. But never fear: Tempesta promises the program will emphasize the nicer aspects of winter. The winter concertos all have their cozy interludes, and the other items on the menu include Arcangelo Corelli’s warm Christmas Concerto, along with some graceful Gallic noels by the 18th century French composer and author Michel Corrette.

Tempesta di Mare will present Winter: A Cozy Noel on Friday, December 9 at 8pm at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill (8855 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia); Saturday, December 10 at 8pm at the Arch Street Meeting House (320 Arch Street, Philadelphia); and Sunday, December 11 at 4pm at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Tickets for the Philadelphia performances are $39 for preferred admission and $25 for general. Full-time students and youth (grades 3-12) are free at the door. Tickets are available in advance online and at the door.
