Coming up in Philly music: New Year’s Eve with the orchestra, and more
The holidays have slowed down the local concert schedule, but the Philadelphia Orchestra doesn’t seem to be letting up. They’ll ring in the new year with a concert featuring conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and soprano Angela Meade. The performance will be on Thursday, December 31 at 7:30pm (note the earlier-than-usual time) at Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $60-$135.
The orchestra returns to the stage with vocalist Kristin Chenoweth on Saturday, January 2 at 8pm in Verizon Hall. Chenoweth is an Emmy and Tony award-winning actress known for her work in Wicked, TV’s Glee, and other shows and productions.
Pianist Peter Donohoe returns to Philadelphia to appear again with Vox Ama Deus in a performance featuring works by Gershwin, Joplin, Williams, and Leonard Bernstein’s lesser-known Prelude, Fugue and Riffs. The concert will take place on Friday, January 8 at 8pm at the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $20-$70.
