For those who want to be sure to celebrate Black History Month through the arts with one of Philly’s own movers and shakers, Roger Lee Dance Company is making its February concert an annual event. After a successful inaugural show last year, the 2015 Roger Lee Dance Black History Celebration is coming back to the Performance Garage on February 6 and 7.

This year’s show features work by guest choreographers Kristen Wilson, Sonia James Pennington, Michael Nguyen, Kyle and Dinita Clark, and Natalia Baxter. According to the company, “their pieces will celebrate several facets of black history including freedom, integration, the black church, and urban culture.” Artistic director Lee will offer his own premiere in the second half, in a four-part performance including jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary styles.

The 2015 Roger Lee Dance Black History Celebration is coming up on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7 at 8pm at the Performance Garage, 1515 Brandywine Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $20 in advance online and $23 at the door.
