Benjamin Britten in Song and Story

Lyric Fest’s Biographies in Music produce some of their most moving concerts. Based on extensive research (by singers who are maintaining performance careers!), the programs portray the full arc of a composer’s life with songs, letters, diaries, and well-written narration. The 100th anniversary of Benjamin Britten’s birth presents them with the opportunity to embark on an odyssey that includes Britten’s pacifism, the influence of two world wars, his lifelong relationship with tenor Peter Pears, political and musical intrigues, and encounters with Albert Einstein, W.H. Auden, and most of the composers of his era.
