Go behind the scenes of two popular Fringe shows with Darnelle Radford
The BSR Podcast: IRC's Painting Churches and the world premiere of Dogberry and Verges Are Scared

We love podcast host Darnelle Radford's interviews because they always dive beyond whatever's onstage in the current moment. Yes, we're digging into a specific show, but these conversations are a chance to breathe and go deeper into fascinating questions of making art today. Today, Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium (IRC) producing artistic director Tina Brock, who also stars in IRC's Fringe production of Painting Churches, talks about the company's search for a home, and why they decided settling in one place wasn't the right choice as they approach their 20th anniversary. And, of course, Brock takes us backstage of IRC's current production, which BSR critic Josh Herren loves.
The show runs through Sunday, September 21, at Theatre Exile's South Philly venue.
Herren says Tina Howe's 1983 play should "be considered a major work of American theater, not only for its lyrical writing but for the way it reveals character depths and delicately shows the complexity of family relationships."

Radford sits down with Michael Doherty and Will Mobley, the creators of Dogberry and Verges Are Scared. They dive into how this Shakespearean satire was developed and what's next for the show, now getting its rolling world premiere thanks to a partnership between Cincinnati Shakespeare Company and a new local company, Slippery Trout Productions. Two of Philly's favorite actors, Anthony Lawton and Scott Greer, star in the show. It runs through Sunday, September 14, at Christ Church Neighborhood House.
BSR critic Jill Ivey loved the show, calling it part Shakespeare, part Stoppard, part Beckett, and part Dumb and Dumber.
