Fat Ham feels so long ago when you look at the scope of James Ijames career since then. Philly saw his work most recently with a performance of The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington at the Wilma. But Ijames is still all over the place as well, teaching playwriting at Columbia University while bouncing between his South Philadelphia home and the Morningside Heights neighborhood in New York.

Here, he talks about life beyond Fat Ham, the Arden's production of Good Bones, and the transformative power of taking tiny steps. He also gives his thoughts on what makes a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, creating an anthology, and how to bring a play from the page to the stage.
