Catch these concerts

DAN COREN

If you have a taste for the unusual – or for Mozart -- here are some concerts you won’t want to miss:

— On Saturday, January 26, Orchestra 2001 will perform at Independence Seaport Museum one of the most influential and controversial works of the 20th Century avant-garde, Pierre Boulez’s Le Marteau Sans Maitre.
8 pm: Independence Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing, 211 S. Columbus Blvd. (at Walnut St.) Also Sunday, Jan. 27th at 7:30pm at Lang Concert Hall, Swarthmore College, 500 College Ave., Swarthmore, Pa.. www.orchestra2001.org.

—On January 27 and 28 at the Perelman Theater in the Kimmel Center, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia will perform two Mozart symphonies, one of them the Linz, bracketing little-known vocal works by Ravel and Stravinsky.
Jan. 27 at 2:30, Jan. 28 at 7:30, both at Perelman Theater, Kimmel Center, Broad and Spruce Sts. www.chamberorchestra.org.

—A week later, the pianist team of Emanuel Ax and his wife, Yoko Nozaki, will pair up with the Philadelphia Orchestra to perform Bela Bartok’s arrangement of his own Sonata for Piano and Percussion, along with the rare treat (I’m not sure that’s the right word, to tell you the truth) of a symphony by Carl Nielsen.
Feb. 7 and 9 at 8 p.m., Feb. 8 at 2 p.m., all at Verizon Hall, Kimmel Center, Broad and Spruce Sts. www.philorch.org.

I’ll be at all of them.
