Julien Suaudeau teaches
at Bryn Mawr College. Season 3 of his Song of Philadelphia podcast from Hidden City examines how David Lynch invented his cinematic language in Philly.

Julien Suaudeau is a French-American writer, documentary filmmaker, and podcaster. He was born in 1975 in Evreux and grew up in Paris. After the 2006 release of his debut documentary, a feature-length film on the civil war in Ivory Coast, he moved to Philadelphia. He has published four novels and two works of nonfiction (all in French). He teaches French and Film at Bryn Mawr College. In 2024, he launched Song of Philadelphia, a Hidden City podcast on the many layers of the city and on personal memories told through sound. He also hosts and produces The People Left Behind, a Grid Magazine podcast on the aftermath of gun violence. When he is not losing his mind in front an Eagles game, he can be found walking around town with or without a microphone, desperately looking for the Other place.
