David Lee White

David Lee White is a writer/performer living and working in the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area. For 14 seasons, he was the associate artistic director and resident playwright at Trenton, New Jersey’s Passage Theatre in Trenton. His most recent play, Fixed, was a commission from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Stage Exchange Program. It was produced at Passage Theatre in May, 2017. Other work includes Blood: A Comedy, Slippery as Sin, and his solo show Panther Hollow, which he performed at Passage, Dreamcatcher Rep, the New Jersey Fringe Festival, Pittsburgh’s Arcade Comedy Theatre, Drexel University, and Point Park College. Recent developmental readings include Rocket Sex Magic (Writer’s Theatre of New Jersey) and The Festial Quartet (Bristol Riverside Theater’s America Rising series). Since 2005, he has worked with Trenton high school students creating oral history based shows about social and cultural issues. If I Could in My Hood I Would… was about gangs, Fire Girls took on the issue of girl bullying, and Urban Central examined 1967 race riots that took place at Trenton Central High. Subsequent shows in this vein include Get Off the Bus and Bobashela. He created This Trenton Life with the Trenton High drama club, which was the subject of an Emmy-nominated broadcast on PCK Media’s State of the Arts. Currently in development are the musicals The Angry Grammarian, with composer Jeffrey Barg, and Alien 8, with composer Kate Brennan for McCarter Theatre’s education program.
