Lauren Berlin, M.Ed., is a Philadelphia-based dance artist, writer, and educator working at the intersection of dance, education, and literacy. She contributes performance reviews, essays, and commentary to thINKing DANCE and The Ballet Herald. A South Florida native and graduate of the nationally recognized Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. School of the Arts, she is a classically trained dancer, Boca Ballet Theatre alum, and former amateur ballroom competitor. She is an educational leader, youth choreographer, dance director, and coach with experience designing, developing, managing, and overseeing dance program curriculum and programming for youth, including the first middle school dance program in the South Region of Palm Beach County and a magnet dance program in Palm Beach County schools. Her writing offers an insightful and nuanced perspective on dance practice and performance. She holds a B.A. in English, two master’s degrees in Education from the University of Florida, and the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum designation.
