MJ Kaufman is a playwright and devised theater maker working in Philadelphia and New York.

MJ Kaufman is a playwright and devised theater maker working in Philadelphia and New York. They worked on The Atomic Family Cabaret with Bearded Ladies Cabaret and wrote a play called eat and you belong to us as an incubated artist at University of the Arts. They are part of the Emerging Writers Group at the Public Theater, a Core Playwright at InterAct Theatre, and a member of Colt Coeur Theater Company. In 2016, they participated in a residency on identity and performance at the New Museum. Their plays have been seen at New York Theater Workshop, The Huntington Theater, Yale School of Drama, New Conservatory Theatre Center and performed Moscow, Russia. MJ received the 2010 Jane Chambers Prize in Feminist Theatre.
