Concha Alborg is a writer from Spain and retired college professor who lives in Washington Square.

Concha Alborg was born in Spain during Franco’s regime and went to school in Madrid until she emigrated to the United States. More than any other event in her life, this move defines who she is, an immigrant living between two cultures. Concha may seem Americanized to her Spanish relatives, but as far as her daughters are concerned, she is from another country.
She earned an M.A. from Emory University and a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from Temple University. She retired from Saint Joseph’s University after almost 30 years of teaching. In addition to academic writing on contemporary Spanish writers and film, she has published two collections of short stories: Una noche en casa (Madrid, 1995) and Beyond Jet-Lag (New Jersey, 2000); a novel, American in Translation (Indiana, 2011); and a memoir, Divorce After Death (Delaware, 2014). She leads a writers’ group at The Athenaeum of Philadelphia and serves on the board of Philadelphia Stories. See more information conchaalborg.com.
