Alexander Burns is a director, playwright and the founding artistic director of Quintessence Theater Group, where he has directed 30 productions. He worked at the Arden Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Syracuse Stage, Trinity Shakespeare Festival, Wilma Theater, Flea Theatre, Young Mirror Rep, University of Chicago, and University of the Arts. Alexander received a B.S. in Theater from Northwestern University, was the directing fellow at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. and is an alumnus of the Lincoln Center Theatre Directors Lab and the Jack O’Brien Director Fellowship.
