This week, we have something that I wish we could do more often: multiple takes on a single theater production that has been drawing some passionate feelings in our community. First, we've got a review of Quintessence Theatre Group's new all-male Macbeth. Then, we've got a podcast interview with director Alex Burns. And to round it all out, we have a powerful op-ed about the show from a trans actor. I'm heading to see the show myself this afternoon, carrying all three perspectives with me. We hope you engage with them, and then add your own thoughts to this conversation.
In other news, we have a wonderful essay by our own Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer about how Princess Kate's cancer announcement affected her as someone who battled cancer herself as a mom in her late 30s. It's a must read. And as if all that isn't enough, we're reviewing the latest at Act II Playhouse, and the Philly premiere of Frozen.
If you think professional critical discourse dedicated to Philly's cultural scene is important, consider supporting BSR with your dollars as well as your clicks. Our stories this week are exactly the type of coverage getting squeezed out of more and more media outlets. But our growing community proves the appetite, and the need, for our work. Thanks for being here!
