That was one of the primary themes to yesterday's BSR Book Panel. I had the pleasure of speaking with five Philly authors last night, and it was a compelling conversation. We talked about processes and practices around writing their new books, what makes "remembering" a challenging but key component in cultivating a book, and how living in Philly has shaped their writing. These sorts of conversations are so important these days—and I think that's evidenced by things like AI-generated book lists.
Yeah, I'm still thinking about that.
But I'm also thinking about the future of books, writing, and literature. How are we using the medium as a community to remember what we've experienced—the good and the bad? And how are we using the medium to communicate, articulate, and ultimately create, a future that holds space for real people telling real stories—and the word actually gets around and has impact.
Happy Book Week, Philly! Hope you've got some good reads guiding you and grounding you these days.
