Gabriela Lena Frank, Pearl Cleage, Charlotte Brontë and Charlotte Northeast, The Lady Hoofers, Charly Evon Simpson, Phillis Wheatley, and the famous all-female Baroque orphan musical ensembles of Venice, to name a few. Composers, singers, musicians, novelists, actors, playwrights, dancers, designers, directors, poets: the women our reviews spotlight this week have been making artistic waves since the 18th century.
We're also excited to welcome the women journalists of our Power of Food Media event on May 25, and we have an update on that event: all attendees will receive three free drink tickets to take with them into the Northern Liberties Night Market, happening right outside the Indy Hall Clubhouse on the night of the panel.
We're also gearing up for the June 7 Arts Affair, celebrating 45 years of community legal services from Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, with food, drinks, and a great slate of performances. There's a discount code for Friends of BSR for both upcoming events.
See you soon!
