We know many of our readers are getting ready for the December holidays. Friends and family are arriving from out of town, or maybe you're solo and want a peaceful, engaging outing. The dark, chilly days of November and December are a great time to head to a museum, especially if you have visitors who are hoping for an outing beyond Christmas markets, ice-skating, or holiday-themed bars.
So this week, I want to highlight the current museum and gallery exhibitions our writers recommend. From The Time is Always Now at the PMA to Mickalene Thomas at the Barnes, The Future of Clay, activist photographer Harvey Finkle at Woodmere, Wharton Esherick at the Brandywine, and much more, there is something for every art-lover: painting, collage, ceramics, photography, woodworking, fashion, and conceptual art, to name a few. Just this week, we add two more to the list: XOXO: An Exhibit About Love & Forgiveness at the Please Touch Museum, and Jazz Age Illustration at Delaware Art Museum.
Look over the reviews below and I promise you'll see something interesting. Our writers' work is crammed with fascinating historical context, big questions, and joy for the art they love. Plus, don't miss Cameron's review of The Comeuppance at the Wilma and Camille's coverage of an iconic modern dance company's Philly visit.
Looking ahead, Kyle's newsletter will be on hiatus tomorrow for the Thanksgiving break, but look out for his first December picks next Thursday. Whatever the Thanksgiving holiday means to you (or doesn't mean), we hope that you can find some peace and relaxation this weekend.
