The Fringe officially kicked off one week ago, and our writers have been busy! From Kensington to South Philly to Old City to Spring Garden and more, they've already covered almost a dozen shows and lots more are on the way in the coming weeks.
Highlights include Is This A Wedding?, which was a one-night event because it actually was a wedding: the artists turned their nuptials into a Fringe performance. Gunnar Montana is back and our review of his BLACK WOOD sequel is in, and I personally loved On Buried Ground, a site-specific interdisciplinary performance that takes place across three Old City locations. It begins in a historic graveyard at dusk and concludes in the sanctuary at Christ Church, exploring and imagining the lives of colonial-era Black Philadelphians. It's running through this Saturday. Don't miss our review, and then get your tix.
As you read our Fringe coverage, we want you to know that the shows we're able to feature represent only a fraction of the artists who contact us, looking for press. We wish we had more staff, more time, and more funding! We wish that Philly still had a robust ecosystem of arts reviews. If you value what we do, consider supporting us.
