One thing I learned over my vacay this year is that I might take a break from BSR, but our readers don't take a break from us. Thanks for your strong interest in our ICYMI mailers over the last few weeks, and special gratitude is due to the people who stepped up as donors this month. Without you, we wouldn't be able to plan for 2026. You probably understand nonprofit life, especially as the federal government makes it their mission to stomp out independent cultural discourse, so we'll keep saying it: The only reason we're still here is because our readers step up.
Over the break, I enjoyed day trips to Chester County and Frenchtown, NJ. I turned 42. I took a whole day to do art. I read more than a dozen books. Most important, I rested. I hope this summer has brought you some rest as well.
We're starting off easy this week, with just two new stories: a look at a new guide for non-Jewish artists producing Jewish theater, created in partnership with local artists, and a review of a newly arrived installation at the PMA.
Meanwhile, our team is hard at work planning our Fringe coverage, a huge project involving 20 writers and hundreds of potential shows. As always, we'll be here to help you navigate the fest, bringing you what's hot, what's irresistibly weird, what you just don't want to miss, and what you might never have heard about without BSR journalists.
Kyle will be back with you tomorrow to kick off your weekend plans.
