What a week! Let's dive in.
Last Thursday, BSR critic Cameron Kelsall and I went to Nosejob, the latest from Lightning Rod Special in this year's Curated Fringe (running through this Saturday). I agree with his mixed review, and I think the show is worth seeing. On Saturday, I caught the new Chris Davis solo show, The 40-Year-Old Ballerino, and I highly recommend it (it runs through September 29 and tickets are going fast). Check out my review for more. Another highlight is Handala: A Celebration of Palestine, with one more performance left (this Thursday). We're also reviewing the season opener at the Lantern, and lots more.
In other news, essayist Anndee Hochman remembers the time she met James Earl Jones as a child, in her remembrance of the iconic American actor who died this month. And in case you missed it, Black West Philly elder Constance Garcia-Barrio shares her solidarity with Chinatown activists marching against the proposed Sixers arena at Market East.
We've been working on the October calendar, and we have a LOT more coming your way this fall, including thoughtful features and exciting reviews, ranging from classics to contemporary favorites to world premieres. Thanks for helping us keep the conversation going!
