That's what I keep asking myself. I see my friends asking it, too. How do we find the info we really need, and how do we set healthy limits when we can't seem to quit doomscrolling? The stakes are high for me: living with a mood disorder, I am sometimes susceptible to debilitating symptoms triggered by external stress.
Especially we approached the 2024 PA primary, I've been thinking about the things I do to manage my media consumption. As an avid follower of the news, someone who must work hard to stay balanced, and a longtime journalist, I realized I might be especially well-qualified to give some tips on this front. Check them out in my story below. Let us know if they resonate with you, or if you have advice of your own.
Of course, we also have our usual lineup of reviews. This week, we're at Delaware Theatre Company for a second look at the world premiere of Bruce Graham's Flatlanders, and we're covering the latest children's show at the Arden, plus a world premiere from Kun-Yang Lin Dancers.
Also, have you checked out our upcoming webinar, BAD REVIEWS: How to write them and why we need them? It's happening May 29. (Friends of BSR attend free!) Thanks to everyone who has already nabbed their seat! We're looking forward to seeing you for this dynamic session about the work critics do.
