December is becoming one of my favorite months of the year, and that feels like an accomplishment of sorts. For years, I’ve meditated on curating experiences this time of year to fill the month, and ultimately, my spirit. This comes from long contemplations over “what the holidays mean to me” or “why am I so bah humbug about Christmas?” and “what holidays and events are actually important to me and why?” December has become a time for catching up with loved ones who I don’t get to see often, reflecting on the past year, setting ambitions and aspirations for the future both large and small, and assertively finding time to rest and restore.
With this being the last Thursday newsletter of the year, I can’t help but think about all the events we’ve covered, the artists and creators we’ve profiled, the stories we’ve featured, and the state of affairs we’ve spotlighted. I’m proud of the work our writers and staff have done this year in the midst of so much around us falling apart. And I’m warmed that our readers are still here, as loyal and faithful and enthusiastic as they’ve ever been.
Thank you everyone for what’s been yet another challenging year here in the 21st century. I’ll see you all next year for what’s likely going to be another wild time.
Be safe, Philly
