Have you gotten the alert from our friends over at the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance? On Tuesday, March 24, artists, arts leaders, and supporters from across Pennsylvania are gathering in Harrisburg for an Arts Advocacy Day (learn more and register here). There are big changes coming to the PA arts budget, including a rollback of grants that boost small grassroots orgs and promote cultural diversity in our creative sector. Advocates invite you to a breakfast at the Capitol, followed by meetings with our state legislators, and an afternoon press conference. This is a chance to make your voice heard directly at the top, and show how much support the cultural sector has across our state.
Meanwhile, in Philly, BSR writers have been busy as always. They caught the opening of Irish Heritage Theatre's The Weir (critic Walt Maguire says the cast shines but the design suffers), Theatre Ariel's Marsha Blovotnick and the Marvelous Magical Chicken Soup (critic Jill Ivey says it's some much-needed Jewish joy that is accessible to all), and the Arden's Romeo and Juliet (critic Josh Herren says it's a powerful statement on the ways adult violence intrudes on youthful love). Plus: a major Syd Carpenter retrospective at The Woodmere, and a sit-down with the founders of Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, who share about the company's sunset later this month.
Did you catch our Tuesday morning subscriber update? The Readers Decide campaign broke $8,000 yesterday! Can we make our $10,000 goal in less than two weeks? That is still completely up to you. Close to 100 readers have donated so far this month (THANK YOU!). Are you next?

Nonprofit arts media is tough going these days, but this work is important, and we know Philly values it. If you have the means, BSR needs your support for our Readers Decide campaign, running through Tuesday, March 31.
