I know they aren't everyone's favorite, and I can understand why, but I think hugs are pretty great. And this week sees the opening of a new exhibit at the Fabric Workshop—Risa Puno: Group Hug. Alicia Link writes that "Through the pre-colonial Philippine concept of kapwa, the moral imperative to care for others, Puno’s installation not only encourages but demands a symbiotic relationship between the visitors in the space...[where] Visitors are offered two different paths: 'care for' or 'cared for.'" Puno's installation manages to "gamify" care, and is angling to not be just another set of stagnant sculptures.
This week we also preview Once Upon a Bridge, a performance that asks about humanity through playfulness, even though its story's origin comes from a dark place. Then, check out our latest Classical Music Interludes—the Philadelphia Organ Festival is right around the corner! And this week's roundup features events centered around Women's History Month and International Women's Day.
Be safe, Philly!
