Since I last saw you in this space, I've gotten to six shows while supervising coverage of eight more. Our editorial team and our writers have been working hard, and we're proud to bring you coverage not just of the big-name shows like POTUS, Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive (Cameron Kelsall thinks stereotypes hamper this feminist farce) or Empire Records: The Musical (An Nichols mostly loves it), but the indie artists too. They deserve coverage just as much as the big regionals do.
You have three more chances to see I Will Eat You Alive (here's my review), a body liberation manifesto at Icebox Project Space Gallery. Meanwhile, Gail Obenreder reviews the very latest Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged), onstage at the University of Delaware. And don't miss the rest of this week's Fringe reviews.
In other news, here's a heads-up on a fun new event from our friends over at Blue Stoop, but there's a twist: I'm a featured speaker, and not in my capacity as a journalist! When I'm not at my BSR desk, I'm an aspiring author, and my in-progress novel was chosen for a new salon co-presented by Blue Stoop, the Literature Department of the Free Library, and Molly's Books & Records on Saturday, October 5 at the Parkway Central Library. I'll be reading an excerpt, talking about life as a writer, and enjoying a discussion with whoever attends. It's free! RSVP here. And be sure to check out the whole Novels in Progress series for exciting new writers!
We would love to hear how you're spending this kickoff to the new season. Have you gotten tickets to a show because of a BSR review? What else have you seen? Thanks for spending another week with us!
