Here are your last BSR reviews of 2025! I can't believe we made it through the last year, but here we are. And we hope to celebrate with you on January 15: we're marking our 20th anniversary at Party with the Critics, a gathering for our community at Indy Hall. We'll have food, drinks, a performance, brief remarks from BSR leaders, and the great conversations that always come when our writers and readers gather in the same room.
This week, our writers are heading to family shows at Curio and the Arden (our critics recommend them both, so if you're looking for kid-friendly outings over school break, check these out), a major Moki Cherry exhibition at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, and the long-awaited premiere of The Seasons at Opera Philadelphia. Plus, essayist Anndee Hochman, who has been involved with the NEA's national Poetry Out Loud program for 20 years, has noticed major changes to the anthology under the Trump regime. Don't miss her perspective.
Whatever you're celebrating at the close of the year, we wish you a sense of peace, some restorative rest, and a burgeoning conviction that better times are coming if we fight for our community. Over the coming days, look out for some year-end BSR subscriber exclusives, including book, movie, and podcast recommendations from our team.
