As we roll into February, new performances from theaters around the city are warming up the engine for the new season. The WIlma’s The Half-God of Rainfall makes for a refreshing blend of theater, Greek and African mythology, and…basketball? Because surely those were all on your Bingo card. Then, we’ve got the latest from EgoPo (see our new podcast episode and this week’s roundup), and Bristol Riverside Theatre presents Anna Deavere Smith’s striking Fires in the Mirror.
Outside of the theater box is Urban Movement Arts’ WORKINONIT!, a chance for adults of all skill levels to get (back) on the dance floor. Then, we get behind the art of getting behind the scenes with the Hammer and Nails Conference—which is more than just a conference but a movement to get young girls and women of color into careers behind the scenes in film, television, and theater.
We’ve also got some movies for February, too.
