Party with the Critics is coming up TOMORROW (Thursday January 15, 6-9pm at Indy Hall), so it's your last chance to grab tix! By joining us, you're not only enjoying a get-together with the BSR community over food and drinks (plus an excerpt of Chris Davis's 40-Year-Old Ballerino). You're helping to ensure that BSR continues publishing for another year, now that we've made it to 20. You'll be in good company, with BSR staff and writers, other BSR readers, and city leaders who care about the arts as much as you do. We'd love to see you!
This week, our writers are heading to the Philadelphia Orchestra (Dalia Stasevska is back), a unique performance featuring both the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and BalletX, and the national tour of SUFFS, a musical about activists like Alice Paul, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Ida B. Wells. In her review, Alix Rosenfeld reflects on events over the last week, and how they reveal American women's continued struggle.
We have lots of reviews on deck for the latter half of January, including more from the Philadelphia Orchestra, Steel Magnolias at People's Light, Poor Judge at the Wilma, and many others. And February is already looking pretty exciting.
We are all coping with desperately stressful news cycles right now, if we aren't seeing the illegal use of government force firsthand, or becoming a victim of it ourselves. We hope you're finding ways to stay safe, and to help your neighbors if they need it. Staying plugged into your own community at times like this really matters -- especially the artists who aren't afraid to tell the truth about our history, or imagine a better future.
Hope to see you on Thursday!
