As a follow-up to my editorial essay this week, I decided to commit this week’s roundup to events featuring a variety of identities, cultures, and lived experiences. At the top of the list is Cowboy Versus Samurai, a contemporary re-telling of Cryano de Bergerac through the eyes of an Asian American teacher who makes up half of the Asian population of Breakneck, Wyoming. Then, DVAA opens its doors with a new exhibit exploring three artists and their narrative explorations of their own cultures and identities. The National Liberty Museum and The Reel at Temple University offer music and film capturing a variety of perspectives and experiences all in the spirit of a good time. And an exhibit at the Black Moth Gallery in Ardmore explores cultural identity through architecture and illustrations.
It’s a great time to explore what makes the city of Philadelphia such a kaleidoscope. If you can, don’t miss out!
