As someone with a background in theater, I look forward to weeks like this, when our writers have been to stages throughout the region and the reviews roll in. Just in the last week, our critics have been to shows in three states, with curtains in Philadelphia, Wilmington, Trenton, and Malvern. It reminds me of why BSR stands out: our critics are committed, rigorous, honest writers, and I never know what they're going to say.
We're proud of this, especially in a media landscape where a lot of arts and culture stories are essentially promos or press releases that made it into print. We believe real reviews are sites of connection, conversation, and learning -- especially when we hear from readers who disagree with our writer's take, and even more so when a review inspires you to buy a ticket.
When you walk into the theater, instead of our reviews telling you WHAT to think, we hope you sit down ready to ask yourself whether or not you agree with our critic, and why. On to the reviews!
