The majority of what we run at BSR are reviews. Makes sense, given our name! But some of my favorite pieces aren't arts criticism. They are the gorgeous essays that bring you inside our writers' world. They're pretty quick to read -- most will take you just five or six minutes. They are remembrances, antifascist cri de coeurs, reflections on popular TV and movies, and more.

I'm on vacation for the rest of this week, and then next week as well. Once when I told someone I take two weeks off from BSR each year, they huffed, "must be nice!", as if taking this time off makes me selfish or lazy, or it means my work here isn't important. None of that is true. Running a weekly independent media outlet is a lot of work, and I deserve to rest as much as anyone else. I hope this last month of the summer brings you some much-needed rest as well!
