I'm still thinking about BSR's Book Week panel last week. It was a fulfilling experience seeing authors from different backgrounds and different corners of the city come together and share their experiences and how Philly informed their work. One of the things we established in that conversation, though, is that not only is there still so much to do, there will always be something to do.
We're in a constant fight for basic human rights, and the fight continues to escalate. Protests are happening all over the country, including right here in these streets. Budget cuts continue to threaten our public transportation system. The state of healthcare is dire. And the ICE raids? There will always be something to do.
It feels insurmountable. I think most of us feel that and carry it with us every day. But we keep on, especially right here in the city where it all began. This is not how the story will go.
