Huge thanks to everyone who joined us last week at Party with the Critics, and everyone who was there in spirit. It was a full house, and so much fun. Check out our recap of the party, including a video with excerpts of speeches by our founder Dan Rottenberg, our editors, and two City Councilmembers.
This week, Stephen Silver caught an updated announcement for improvements to the Avenue of the Arts. Some work is slated to begin this winter, but most of the funding is still up in the air. Peter Burwasser catches a Julius Eastman premiere, Jill Ivey heads to Philadelphia Artists' Collective for Inheritors, which she highly recommends (it closes on Saturday), and Adryan Corcione interviews filmmaker Abby Martin, whose latest film (about the environmental impact of the US military) is screening in East Falls next week.
Next week has even more coming your way, including the Wilma's Poor Judge, Steel Magnolias at People's Light, and lots more. And we want to take a moment to shout out our friends at Blue Stoop. They just dropped their lineup of spring classes, and they sound great, including poetry, memoir, fiction, and scriptwriting. I usually take at least one Blue Stoop class each year. It's such a great hub for Philly's literary and writers' community. Check them out!
Thanks again to everyone who joined us last week. We heard how much you value BSR, and we know you will power our future.
