FIND NEIL
Philadelphia Flower Show
WHEN: Saturday, February 28 through Sunday, March 8, 2026
WHERE: Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia
WHY: I marvel each year at how creative designers can get with plants and flowers and some set dressing. My particular favorites are the exhibits from local high schoolers. This year's theme is Rooted: Origins of American Gardening and that has my history-brain fired up.
Spring Clean Swap Meet + Resource Exchange
WHEN: Thursday, March 19, 5:00pm-8:00pm
WHERE: Cultureworks, 1315 Walnut St., Philadelphia
WHY: Cultureworks is hosting an event that sounds brilliant: a materials & art swap. I plan on taking a few books and some office supplies over there and seeing if I can scare up some art supplies I've been trying to source but don't always want to pay retail price for.
South Philly community market
WHEN: Saturday, March 28, 10:00am-2:00pm
WHERE: East Passyunk Community Recreation Center, 1025 Mifflin St., Philadelphia
WHY: I'm curious about sharing skills and resources with my neighbors. South Philly Action Coalition has put together this fair to let us compare notes on knowledge.
FIND ALAINA
The Weir
WHERE: Irish Heritage Theatre at Plays & Players, 1714 Delancey St., Philadelphia
WHEN: March 13-29
WHY: I love horror in books, TV, and movies, and I wish it was a genre you could find onstage more often. Playwright Conor McPherson is one of my favorites, for his weird, heartfelt spookiness. The Weir is about a group of Irish locals swapping scary stories at the pub for a newcomer who has her own tale to tell. I was so glad when I saw Philly is getting a production this spring, and IHT usually does impressive work.
Good BonesWHERE: The Arden, 40 N. 2nd St., Philadelphia
WHEN: Extended through March 22
WHY: I didn't make it to the New York premiere, so I'm excited to check out the first of a trio of James Ijames plays on Philly stages this season. I was just chatting with a BSR writer who saw the show, and found it notably updated from the original script, tailored to the controversy of the failed Sixers stadium. As someone who showed up for a lot of pro-Chinatown protests, that makes me even more interested in seeing the show. Don't miss
Josh Herren's review, or
Wendy Univer's feature on the innovative subscription pass that lets you see all three Ijames productions this season.
TartuffeWHERE: The Performance Garage, 1515 Brandywine St., Philadelphia
WHEN: Through March 8
WHY: I'm not familiar with The Kammerspiel, the Philly theater troupe mounting this new adaptation of Moliere's
Tartuffe, so I want to check this out. Critic Walt Maguire
liked the production. I am endlessly interested in why we're so susceptible to scammers and hypocrites, particularly when they come wrapped in false religious faith. Moliere's classic has been relevant since the 1600s.
The Music of Hans ZimmerWHERE: The Miller Theater, 250 S. Broad St., Philadelphia
WHEN: Wednesday, March 18, 7:00pm
WHY: This is the first US tour for Lords of the Sound, "Ukraine's internationally acclaimed symphony orchestra." I thought it was cool that Philly's getting a stop on the US tour, and I love Hans Zimmer soundtracks, so I'm going to check this one out. It boasts music from films like
Dune,
The Lion King,
Pirates of the Caribbean,
Inception,
The Dark Knight, and lots more. There will be two more stops on the tour after Philly: they're heading to Baltimore on March 19, and will perform in Reading, PA on March 20. It sounds like a great ticket, and a great way to support representatives of a country that has endured so much in recent years.
