Dear BSR Subscriber,
Here's our latest perk for Friends.
Our friends at the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance are launching something new: the Lunch and Learn Workshop Series, and you are invited to attend free as a Friend of BSR.
The series kicks off on Thursday, June 13 with a pair of workshops about HR (including hiring, retention, and bridging different generations in the workplace), and continues on Tuesday, June 18 with a pair of sessions about marketing and PR for small organizations with small budgets. Both workshops will happen in Center City, and they include lunch.
Tickets are $25, but Friends of BSR can register free with the promo code GPCAlive2024. Here’s the link to get more info, and register.

In other news…
It’s BSR Book Week! If you haven’t already, check out the exciting lineup of book reviews on our homepage. And be sure to register for our Book Week panel event on Thursday night (June 6 at 6:30pm ET on Zoom). It’s going to be a great conversation, and Friends of BSR attend free with the promo code BSRcomp. Here’s the RSVP page.
We hope you can join us!
Finally, we know what a distressing week it’s been for the Philly cultural scene: first, the shocking news about the closure of UArts (which was a BSR incubator in our early days), and then the drama at the Free Library, with the sudden departure of the whole Author Events staff. The Philly cultural community is reeling.
We’re not a breaking news or investigative outlet, but we do bring you well-informed opinions that play a longer game, offering you important insights long after the initial headlines flame out. We have our eyes on these situations. Your support is critical to this work.
Thanks for being a Friend,
Neil & Alaina & BSR
