Dear BSR Subscriber,
The Philadelphia cultural community recognizes our work.
Beyond connecting to our readers and writers, we enjoy many relationships! Some involve collaboration on a single event; others are more in-depth. We're not just writing about the cultural ecosystem--we're in it. When people donate to us, we see our commitment to community cited time and again as what inspired them to give.
BSR livestreamed the FAT HAM book launch event in July with TCG and The Wilma Theater.
Here's what Leigh Goldenberg, managing director of the Wilma Theater, has to say:
"The Wilma was grateful to partner with Broad Street Review for the book launch of FAT HAM, in partnership with TCG books. The compelling, insightful conversation with James Ijames, playwright of FAT HAM, and Amina Robinson, director of our current production of the play, would have happened in the ephemeral way of most live events if not for this partnership. We were able to capture and disseminate this conversation widely and for a longer period of time because of the podcast and livestream - something we didn't have the capability to do on our own. It's through this type of work that I can see Broad Street Review's commitment to amplifying the arts in our community, not just in the Philadelphia area but beyond!"

Here's what one Philly artist wrote to us earlier this year: "Recently I found myself doing what a lot of emerging artists do: applying for a fellowship to secure funding for my artmaking, in this case, playwriting. As I have done countless times before, I stated my artistic bona fides and then linked to BSR's coverage, reporting, and review of my work.
So many granting agencies require proof of your existence and productivity as an artist. Membership in the Dramatists Guild requires a review or other evidence of your work having been produced.
In every case, it is the work you do for Philadelphia's arts community by reporting and reviewing that helps me--and I'm sure, countless others--move forward. The work you do not only reports on and reviews Philadelphia's arts scene, it serves the artists who make the work itself. You and the staff of Broad Street Review deserve a million thanks. I humbly offer you mine today. You are making a difference every day."
Jill Ivey & Krista Mar met up at a PVLA/BSR mixer this fall.
We're trying new ways of connecting to our community and sharing our knowledge, including original webinars. Frank Luzi, vice president of marketing communications & digital strategy at Opera Philadelphia, joined us for a webinar. He says, "I have worked with you for many years, but I still learned a lot of great info on the nuances of how BSR operates, and I am sure the session was invaluable to the many artists-as-DIY-publicists on the call."
We can’t do this work without your support.
You can help Broad Street Review move forward.
With thanks,
Neil P. Bardhan, executive director
