I'm feeling extra appreciation for the many folks who stick with BSR each week despite a constant cascade of urgent national and international news. At BSR, we continue to believe that resisting the MAGA agenda means following, attending, supporting, critiquing, and discussing the artists and creators in your own backyard -- getting out of the house, enjoying something alongside strangers, and broadening your own awareness and experiences in a time when those in power are desperately trying to shrink and isolate our minds.
This week, we've got a review of a highly anticipated new ballet from Angel Corella ("From first to last, the piece held us spellbound. It was hard to remember even to breathe," says critic Camille Bacon-Smith) and coverage of the latest openings at Theatre Horizon, Fever Dream Repertory, and Quintessence. Meanwhile, Cameron Kelsall caught the PCMS debut of Norwegian star pianist Leif Ove Andsnes.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting mix of theater, dance, film, music, museums, and more in the coming weeks. And we'll be with you on Friday morning for the April edition of our BSR in the Wild newsletter, a just-for-subscribers heads up on which events our team is heading to in the coming month. If you enjoy reading BSR, be sure to forward our stories to your friends, so they can get in the loop, too.
